The IMPRESS conference "Sustaining iconic diadromous species: Potential and pitfalls of cultivation" was arranged in Arendal, Norway, June 17th - 19th 2018. The conference focused on fish cultivation for conservation and sustainable use of wild diadromous species, with a special focus on the three key species of IMPRESS: eel, salmon and sturgeon.
In June 2017, the 4th IMPRESS training school was arranged in Chanteuges, sourthern France, in close collaboration with Conservatoire National du Saumon Sauvage, unique hatchery focusing on salmon production for natural restocking. The ESRs got experience in the conservation and management of natural fish populations, as well as how to generate public awareness on the societal benefits of fish conservation.
The 3rd training school of the IMPRESS was arranged at the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters at the University of South Bohemia (USB) in Vodnany, Czech Republic, October 18th - 27th 2016. Here, the ESRs were given an extensive overview of different aspects of fish husbandry and was introduced to essential aspects of entrepreneurship and commercialization.
In March 2016 the 2nd IMPRESS training school was arranged in Valencia, Spain. The training school included a 5-day course in computer imaging techniques and cryopreservation and a 4-day course in personal development and career plan.
In October 2015 the first IMPRESS training school was arranged in Leiden, The Netherlands. Most Marie Curie fellows and PIs were present, and all beneficiaries were represented. The training school included a 2-day introductory course to IMPRESS, followed by a 4-day genomics course, covering the basics of bioinformatics and computational biology.
